Two cars collided and the complicating factor was that one had a trailer with a drum of oil which split and covered the road.
The call came just after six o’clock on Tuesday evening. On arrival, crews were confronted by the two vehicles which had collided on Redbank Creek Bridge.
They had to deal with the collision of the cars and the safety of the drivers and passengers but also with the spill of a hazardous material – oil.
A statement from the Glen Innes brigade said: “Fortunately no persons were trapped, with the driver of the north bound car being transported to hospital and two passengers escaped injury.
“The single occupant of the south bound car was not injured. The south bound vehicle was towing a trailer with diesel on board and a large spill was created from the impact.”
Police, Ambulance, Volunteer Rescue Association and RFS also took part.
