Applications are now open for grants with local councils, volunteer groups and community organisations encouraged to show their appreciation for seniors.
“Our senior citizens are the backbone of many community initiatives and volunteer groups across our region, in every single town and village,” Mr Marshall said.
“We should ensure that all our senior citizens feel involved in their local community and remain connected to other people. Seniors Week is a great way to keep seniors engaged and entertained, and provides them with a platform to share their talents with others.
Community groups, councils and volunteer organisations can apply for up to $10,000 in funding to support their Seniors Week activities.
“I encourage everyone who is thinking of hosting a Seniors Week event again or would like to get one up and running in their area to apply for funding,” Mr Marshall said.
The 2019 NSW Seniors Festival will run from February 13 to 24. Organisations are encouraged to plan events now, with three funding categories available:
· Tier 1 grants of up to $1,000 for small-scale local events or activities targeted at community organisations and schools;
· Tier 2 grants from $1,001 to $5,000 for local events targeted at larger community organisations; and
· Tier 3 grants from $5,001 to $10,000 for broader community events targeted at local councils in partnership with organisations and groups.
Applications are now open and close at 5pm on Friday, 10 August 2018.
