She and the Club Hotel decided they would organise a fundraiser.
The venture started as a gold coin collection but then got more ambitious. They expanded it into an auction and a raffle and then to a full day of competitions, games and live music.
Local businesses donated prizes for the raffle. Local people donated non-perishable gifts for the farmers’ families.
Tiffany who is manager at the Telstra store down the road said there were toiletries, nappies, tinned food, soaps, breakfast cereals, you name it. There was so much that it takes up a good part of a big hall at the hotel.
It will all be taken to the Drought Forum and made available to those who feel they need it.
“By the time they’ve bought feed for the stock”, said Tiffany, “anything extra will be a great help”.
