And, finally, a vet for the RSPCA has verified it.
“Funnily enough lots of dogs do look like their owners”, said Jonathon Wu who was in Glen Innes with the RSPCA to do a session on health for 55 dogs (and six cats).
“It's really strange but it's just the way that it is”, he said.
He’s also noticed that dogs and their owners sometimes have the same medical conditions. In the long line of dogs he inspected, he came across an owner with a heart murmur – and, sure enough, the dog had one too when he inspected it.
“Lots of dogs will have similar medical ailments”, he said. “Just then we were talking about heart murmurs and the owner had the heart murmur the same as the dog.
“That’s really, really uncanny.”
He was taking part in a mass inspection of dogs in Glen Innes. Those that hadn’t been given an electronic chips were given one. These are used to track missing dogs. The information is stored in a central computer and can be compared with what’s on the chip.
Dogs also had general inspections of teeth and eyes and routine stethoscope examination.
Inoculations were given. The dogs seemed happy enough. So did their similar owners.
