Late last week a truckload of paintings was delivered by Allinghams who had collected from the major galleries, individual artists and Meadowbank TAFE in Sydney. These artworks are by well known and not so well known artists from all over Australia.
This week the Packsaddle team has been unwrapping and cataloguing these works and hanging of the exhibition will begin next week.
Internationally renowned artist, Christopher Hodges will open the exhibition on Friday 19th October at 6pm (viewing begins at 5pm) and the exhibition will run for two weeks.
There will also be a series of floor talks and workshops beginning on Saturday morning, the 20th, at 10.30am when Christopher will conduct a conversation/ floor talk with Angus Nivison.
Angus Nivison lives and works on 'Yalgoolygum', a farm near Walcha, in the northern tablelands of New South Wales. His relationship to the land informs his work and is a constant source of inspiration.
Nivison has exhibited regularly since 1982 and has been awarded numerous prizes including the 2002 Wynne prize for landscape painting at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
"My work mostly deals with landscape, memory and the human condition. The paintings are really a personal dialogue. I offer the image and a title, it is then up to the viewer to complete the conversation."
