An unnamed triathlete – who would have a few watery insights – recently put their praise in writing to Glen Innes Severn Council, complimenting it on the state of the Glen Innes Aquatic Centre.
The swimmer was passing through town and decided to take a dip, and was pleasantly surprised by the experience.
“Your pool and the change room are some of the best I have used, and Keith (Watts) is a great representative for you,” they said.
“The hours are perfect for travelers.
“Recommend you publicise how the pool and facilities are like new, the great hours, and get people to come and check it out.
“Well done and congratulations. You should be very proud of the hidden gem.”
The opening hours receiving the praise are 10.30am to 6pm daily, with an early morning swim session from 6.30-8am weekdays for lap swimmers.
You can also do Aqua Aerobics on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 8.30-9.30am or Wednesdays from 6pm, stroke correction classes on Sundays at 10am, join the Redfins Swim Club which meets each Monday night at 6pm during the season, and/or join in squad training for all ages on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6.30am.
There’s also wheelchair access to the main pool via a ramp.
If you’d like to get paid for the privilege, council is currently looking for lifeguards, learn-to-swim attendants and kiosk attendants to fill casual positions during the week. To apply contact Recreation and Open Spaces manager Graham Archibald on (02) 6730 2364 or email garchibald@gisc.nsw.gov.au.
The council’s other pool, in Emmaville, is open seven days a week from noon to 6pm.
