The new statistics, released Monday, show most violence in Glen Innes occurs between partners, with 56 domestic violence assaults as compared with 55 assaults outside the family.
That's down almost half since the 2016 peak of 106 domestic violence assaults in a year when Glen Innes had the third highest rate in NSW.
The statistics, which cover the year to June, are down even on last year. In 2018 there were 68 domestic and 71 non-domestic assaults.
Glen Innes' sexual offending rate is also down, bucking a trend of increasing rates of sexual assault across our region. The New England and North West Region suffered a 20.5 per cent increase in sexual assault over the last two years, and now has double the state average.
