The Glen Innes thespian was the ultimate culprit of a pantomime crime nearly 200 people set out to solve last Saturday.
But the absurd noir-esque Agatha Christie-period farce Murder in the Glen was in the service of a good cause.
Jan Lemon, one of the event organisers, said she was blown away by the community's support.
"The people of Glen Innes are the most generous people that you'll ever come across," she said.
"It's a close-knit town. People are amazing how they pull together in cases of emergency and hardship
"They're probably going through hardship themselves but still they can find that couple of dollars for a raffle ticket."
Racy American actress Ruth Brummel was best actor as voted by the crowd.
The fourteen murder suspects included MP Adam Marshall, playing a banker, a female Cabinet minister played by Naomi Bain and a police inspector played by Lloyd Hornsby alongside Jay Post, Col Wallace, Dennis Hazelwood, Richard O'Dell, Dean Gillett, Catie Macans, Helen Miller, Cindy Moore, Deanna Montgomery and Sal Molesworth.
Several tables picked mountaineer Denis Haselwood as the real murderer and the game went to a sudden-death question and answer competition.
