Mayor Carol Sparks said the council "strongly supported" a motion by Sydney's Ryde council that the NSW Local Government Association lobby the state government to further steps to slow climate change.
Mayor Sparks, Deputy Mayor Dianne Newman and new GM Craig Bennett represented Glen Innes at the NSW local government conference in Sydney last week.
They also moved a successful motion asking for additional state and federal government support for gravel road maintenance.
They used the opportunity to lobby Local Government Minister Shelly Hancock, raising the need for additional rural GPs, psychologists and better mental health care coverage.
Mayor Sparks also asked Minister Hancock for additional funding for water and water reuse infrastructure.
"We will continue to represent our community with passion and energy to try and increase good outcomes for our ratepayers," said Mayor Sparks.
