Organiser Janine Johnson, council's manager of community services, promises fun and socialisation, a cheap day out, a nice meal, and the possibility of winning some Christmas gifts.
"Come along; you won't be disappointed!"
The event, a cross between an auction and a raffle, raises money for craft items and the Christmas party.

Participants can buy tickets for 50 cents. There are about 100 prizes (or things to purchase) - including cakes, crocheted rugs, costume jewellery, wine glasses, cushions, crockery, vases, a lamp, shoes, games, mixed baskets, and Christmas cards.
Participants can put in as many tickets as they want to "bid" for the items they want.
The cent auction has run for nearly a decade. It usually raises about $400.
The cent auction will be held at 134 Church Street, Glen Innes, from 10am. Entry through Coles car park or via Gumtree Lane. Lunch costs $12.00; raffle, guessing competition, and cent auction tickets extra.
