A man has been seriously injured in a single vehicle accident on the New England Highway near Glen Innes.

Just before 1pm this afternoon the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by Ambulance New South Wales to reports of a serious single vehicle accident just south of Glen Innes.
It was reported that a vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a telegraph pole with a the driver trapped, suffering serious injuries.

There were no passengers in the vehicle.
Local ambulance paramedics and emergency services rushed to the scene and commenced treatment of the male with serious lower leg injuries prior to the arrival of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Critical Care Medical Team.
After about one hour, a 27-year-old man was released by local rescue personnel and stabilised by the Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team before being flown direct to the Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital in a serious by stable condition.
