"Once restrictions ended, it didn't take long for the caravans and motor homes to hit the road," Tourism & Events Officer Rhonda Bombell stated.
"It is so wonderful to see them parked in our large parking areas, a great asset that we have here in Glen Innes."
Whether visitors are stopping in for a night on their way to another destination or specifically choosing to come to Glen Innes, the town is benefiting from the increased tourism.
"We concentrated on first making the Visitor Information Centre a safe environment to work and visit," Ms Bombell said
"The transition for travellers was easy and we have noticed visitors taking responsibility to make sure they sanitise, observe social distancing and happy to tell us where they are from.
"It's important at this time that tourism operators list on the national digital tourism platform, Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) so their business listings can be published across a number of their distributor websites, including visitnsw.com.
Glen Innes Severn Council marketing executive Brianna Fea agreed.
"If there is one listing that tourism-related businesses need to update, it's this one," she said.
Continuous promotions done by Glen Innes Highlands have seen the town promoted through digital, social, and TV channels, and collaboratively with the Destination brand New England High Country.
"The new ad campaign has been a great success for those planning their next adventure," Ms Bombell said.
"Visitors coming in have mentioned they have seen our town on the television and they have never been before."
The Visitor Information Centre has continued to feature local business products, experience and services.
If the predictions for regional tourism are on track, the centre is hopeful of seeing increased number of attendees for all upcoming events.
Key events supported by council through its Event Support Policy and Grant applications included the upcoming GlenFest from Sept 30 to Oct 3 which at this stage is still going ahead.
"There is a noticeable increase in visitor numbers," Ms Bombell said.
"Daily stats compared to last July show we are on par with last year on the number of days we were open and we are only going to get busier now that Queensland borders are open. This is great news for our businesses, accommodation outlets and attractions in our LGA."
