Toastmasters Glen Innes have received a $1000 State Government grant to help increase the organisation's membership, which was announced today by Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall.

Glen Innes Toastmasters like many community groups, have not been spared the impact of coronavirus.
The small dedicated members of Glen Innes Toastmasters meet twice a month to develop their public speaking skills and teach the wider community the art of speech craft.
Mr Marshall said: "Coronavirus has taken its toll on the club's membership and to fill its ranks, Toastmasters will put this grant towards hosting a number of short, speechcraft courses, as a way of giving the wider community a taste of what the club is about.
"Some of the money will also subsidise existing members fees, allowing those experiencing financial hardship continue their Toastmaster journey.
"Public speaking can be a daunting experience, but with practice and support it is a skill which offers a lifetime of benefits and I urge interested residents to get along to a meeting and help keep this organisation running."
President of Glen Innes Toastmasters Perry Welsh believes the organisation will play an important role in helping those who have lost work during COVID-19 to regain employment.
"We are aware that some in our community have lost their jobs, had hours reduced or have had to close their small businesses due to COVID-19," Mr Welsh said.
"As these people start to look at new employment opportunities, Toastmasters can support them in learning the communication and leadership skills needed to make a strong impression when they start interviewing.
"By holding Speechcraft courses of eight to ten people in Glen Innes, Toastmasters has a golden opportunity to teach locals important new presentation skills, while also capturing potential new members.
"Ideally, we plan to offer at least two Speechcraft courses to the community and local businesses, by the end of this October - COVID-19 restrictions permitting.
"Toastmasters in Glen Innes has an evening meeting every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at the Community Centre and we also have a Facebook page.
"I encourage anyone interested to joining us to make contact through those avenues."
