Not only did Gracie get to name Grader Glen she was also able to welcome it into the roadworks fleet, jumping up into the driver's seat to test out the controls for herself and show onlookers what this new unit of metal and muscle can do.
The naming ceremony for the new machine took place on Monday, February 1. As the competition winner Gracie had the honour of placing a sticker of her winning drawing onto the new grader.
When asked how she felt to have won the competition she couldn't keep the smile off her face.
"I didn't think I would win," she said.
"It's pretty cool to have my drawing on the grader."
Council was impressed by all the wonderful entries into the popular 'Name the Grader' competition, congratulating Gracie and thanking everyone who participated.
Updates will be provided on how the new machine travels once it has some mud on the tyres, working on the southern roads network.
