Jamie received the James Sydney Miller Scholarship which is funded through the Masonic Lodge.
The scholarship is worth $1000 and is awarded to high academic achievers who are struggling with the costs of schooling.
There are only two of these scholarships given by the Masonic Lodge throughout the state.
Jamie was very proud to receive the scholarship and said he would put the money towards general school supplies.
Relieving Principal Shelly Way said Jamie was selected by the school executive as a deserving candidate for the award.
“Jamie is really deserving of this,” she said.
“He has shown the persistence, perseverance and efforts against adversity.”
“I am very pleased for you Jamie, and we thank the Masonic Lodge for their support,” Shelly said during the award ceremony.
Jamie was selected by his school who forwarded their recommendation to Glen Innes Masonic Lodge.
Glen Innes Masonic Lodge Secretary Colin Lute forwarded the recommendation and application to a grand panel based in Sydney.
Mr Lute said he hopes this scholarship can provide some financial relief to Jamie and his family.
“Over the 388 lodges there were over 100 applicants,” he said.
“I was honoured to follow this through and working with Shelly as well as reporting to the Sydney board through this.”
“Very honoured, that Jamie has been honoured by the state.”
